There’s a few De Doorns dogs that we monitor: their situations aren’t ideal but their owners do care.
Rather than removing only to have them immediately replaced by another- fueling the breeding cycle- we focus on educating and enabling families to care for the dogs they already have.
On our last outreach, however, Jackson had crossed the line into neglect. Underfed and with tick bite fever, Jackson also had a newly injured hind leg. We heard multiple stories: from him being kicked, to being hit by a rock, to being knocked by a car.
