We thought Sparkles had her happy-ever-after, until the distemper virus snatched her away!
Having only had one puppy vaccine, Sparkles was susceptible to the disease and had to be humanely euthanised.
As we saw distemper cases spreading throughout the De Doorns township, we called in Vetpoint and our wonderful volunteer vets to get to work on pushing back against the outbreak.
Last Sunday 450 dogs were inoculated, dewormed, given NexGard tick and flea treatment and an antibiotics course. They were also provided with a Hill’s Pet Nutrition food parcel and collared to ensure booster shots can be administered next month!
