Slaapies (meaning Sleepy in Afrikaans) was reported to ‘Sidewalk Specials Outreach’ by a passing motorist, who had witnessed a car hit her and speed away…
After a few hours of hunting ‘Sidewalk Specials Outreach’ finally spotted Slaapies inert form, unconscious in a ditch.
Rushed straight to the vet- Slaapies needed hospitalisation for concussion, treatment for tick bite fever & anemia and an extensive dental extraction for her broken teeth.
You guys had her back, her vet bills were covered, a foster home opened their doors and eventually her forever home was found…sadly her ‘forever’ was shorter than we would have liked…
The damage caused from the car impact eventually led to seizures, vets advised euthanasia over prolonged suffering, her forever mommy held her till the very end…
A few months later Sidewalk Specials had another hit and run, unwanted dog, a tripod called Lady. You guys had stepped up for her vetting but she still didn’t have a home to go to…all we can say is – thank God for you guys, her adopter’s big heart and the joy of second chances!
