We know this one’s going to cause a stir…
Why chained?! Dogs fighting and a very busy road. We’ve seen more dogs hit by cars on this road than we care to remember 😓
Why don’t they take her to the vet? No car, no funds, no vet in their area.
Tokkie’s family called @SidewalkSpecials for help – we aren’t going to respond by confiscating her. If we do, pets will still get injured in this area, but no one will tell us about it. Meaning the animals will suffer at the end of the day ❤️🩹
Why have pets if you can’t afford a vet? We see it in the comments all the time 😐
From our perspective it’s a moot point, there’s thousands of animals in the De Doorns township, as in most townships. There aren’t thousands of adoptive homes waiting to take them in – look at South Africa’s euthanasia statistics if you need proof of that 💔
Whether this community should or shouldn’t have pets – they do, and we’re working to ensure they live the best lives possible. Free from injury, breeding, disease and suffering 🐾
Perhaps if the level of empathy people felt for animals living in townships, was extended to the humans living in the same circumstances, we would be able to look at things with fresh, compassionate eyes…
What @SidewalkSpecials do insist on is pet sterilisation, fence mending and dogs living off chains.
We vet and sterilise all animals on the property, educate the owners on changes needed, help with fencing and then keep checking in to make sure all is well ✅
This creates a lasting change for the pets, opens a friendship with the owner that allows for education, and ensures any future pets will live a better life 🙌🏻
Confiscation is far easier than ongoing education, but only one changes the future for the pets of De Doorns 🐶💕
If you can help @SidewalkSpecials with Tokkie’s vet bill, or contribute towards her fencing costs, please use any donation option below 🐶❤️🩹
