In an unprecedented Level 8 weather warning De Doorns has been battered by severe storms, receiving 100mm of rain fall in just 24 hours. Gale force winds are ripping roofs off shacks and, due to fallen power lines, the area is being hit with 24 hour power outages 
De Doorns’ snow capped mountains, whilst beautiful, are testament to just how cold it is. Below in the waterlogged township, inhabitants are doing their level best get themselves, their homes and their pets through the storm in one piece 
The storm is predicted to last into next week…
The Sidewalk Specials team have been hard at work scouring the township looking for dogs without shelter and organising emergency kennels, blankets, nutritious food and, where needed, medication
