To all the racists in our comment sections, the “why do they have dogs” brigade…this one’s for you! 😘
Taking access to veterinary care out of the equation, it’s the heart – not the colour of the skin, not the post code – but the heart of the owner that matters ❤️
This is why Sidewalk Specials focus on bringing vets into townships, helping township pet owners keep their dogs sterilised and healthy. Rather than removing pets from township families that want them and pushing them into an already overwhelmed welfare system with, quite frankly, staggering euthanasia rates 💔
The ‘pets don’t belong in townships’ argument is valid in as much as neither do children, men or women. But this is our current reality in South Africa and it isn’t changing anytime soon, not for the humans or the animals. So either help, or don’t, but do not hide behind the cowardice of social media to leave cruel, racist and derogatory comments aimed at a community of people who’ve already endured more than any humans ever should 😐
To our awesome supporters – our ‘more helpin’, less judgin‘ brigade – we hope Laila’s rescue makes you smile as much as it did us! 🥰
