Sidewalk Specials receive multiple emails/ texts/ Facebook massages/ WhatsApp’s/ phone calls daily from people begging us to take in either their own unwanted dogs, or dogs that they’ve found/ rescued on the streets…our response, like every welfare in Cape Town right now, is that we are full!
The welfare system is flooded, full, overwhelmed and rescues are getting attacked for “not caring” when the reality is there simply aren’t enough resources or homes to keep up with the never ending waves of unwanted pets
Unable to deal with the reality of this, cases of hoarding are on the rise, the SPCA’s are mercilessly attacked for doing what ‘pro-life’ shelters won’t and legitimate shelters are at serious risk of closure and burn out
The answer? Responsible pet ownership and mass sterilisation!
This is why Sidewalk Specials focus on bringing vets to townships – helping township pet owners keep their dogs sterilised and healthy. Rather than removing dogs and pushing them into an already overwhelmed welfare system with, quite frankly, staggering euthanasia rates
If you can help Sidewalk Specials maintain our Steri Clinic and Outreach program in the De Doorns township by making a once off donation, or by becoming a monthly donor, please use any donation option below
Sidewalk Specials are PBO approved and can issue Section 18A tax certificates for all donations received!
To our awesome supporters – our ‘more helpin’, less judgin’ brigade – we hope Bruno’s update gives you a glimpse into the brighter future you’re helping us create for the dogs of De Doorns!
