Sidewalk Specials have never understood why people think that folks living in townships don’t care about their animals…
What our team experiences daily is caring owners, desperate to save their pets, grateful that people from around the world support Sidewalk Specials and allow their township to access veterinary care
Now of course there are bad apples, there’s bad apples in every walk of life. But if the family down your street abused their dog – would you want the internet labelling you an abuser also? Would you find that fair?
No. You really wouldn’t.
And before anyone utters the phrase “dogs shouldn’t be in townships”…
A) they already are, hundreds of thousands of them. And no, there aren’t hundreds of thousands of non township homes waiting to take them in. Time to accept that perhaps, and help them where they’re actually at…
B) neither should men, women or children. Maybe start complaining about that instead and then we might see some real change
Oscar’s family called four of our volunteers, six times, to get Oscar the help he needs
Parvovirus has been ripping through the De Doorns township, leaving broken hearts and empty kennels in its wake
Oscar is one of seven dogs Sidewalk Specials have treated for parvovirus this month. Our parvo funds are beyond depleted but we’d love to give Oscar a chance. Thankfully his owner reached out early enough that the odds of survival are in his favour
