We estimate over 10,000 dogs and cats live in the De Doorns township, 90% of their owners do not have the means or transport to access veterinary care. 😣

At the beginning of 2026 Sidewalk Specials introduced “emergency clinics” – to treat emergency cases who wouldn’t survive the two-week gap between Steri Clinics. 🆘

In the last five months alone, these clinics have attended 278 emergencies. 😳

Motor vehicle accidents, dog fights, cancerous tumours, injuries caused by chains, stabbings, eye removals, TVT cancer treatments, parvo cases, distemper cases, burns, cats attacked by dogs, rape victims, tick bite patients, botched tail amputations, broken legs…the list goes on…💔

It’s been heavy going, a raw insight to the realities of township life, but we carry on because we know that no one else is coming to save them…

With South Africa’s never ending inflation, township life is getting harder than ever, and the demand on our clinics resources is unrelenting. 😥

The Wild at Heart Foundation heard our cry and has generously sponsored five emergency clinics – allowing our team to help those who can’t help themselves! 🙌🏻

BequestS - Remember us in Your Will

One of the most effective ways in which you can ensure that Sidewalk Specials NPC’s work continues is by way of a bequest in your will.

 

What Can You Bequeath?

You can leave any realisable assets to Sidewalk Specials NPC, including:

  • Property and land
  • Money or stocks and shares
  • Personal possessions
 
Adding a Bequest to Your Will
 
If you wish to donate to Sidewalk Specials NPC by way of a bequest, please make specific mention of us in your will.

For example:

“I bequeath to Sidewalk Specials NPC (2017/316326/08) the sum of [insert amount or percentage of overall estate value]. “ 

If you have already drawn up your will, a bequest to Sidewalk Specials NPC can be contained in an addition to your will, known as a Codicil, which can be added at any time.

A codicil must be signed and witnessed in the same way as the will itself (although the witnesses do not need to be the same). It must be kept with the will, but not affixed to it.

For example:

“I, the undersigned, declare the following to be a codicil to my will. I bequeath to Sidewalk Specials NPC (2017/316326/08) the sum of [insert amount or percentage of overall estate value] “

IN APPLICATION OF STERI CLINIC PROTOCOLS (“THE PROTOCOLS”)

  1. I/We agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sidewalk Specials NPC/CIC and any of its directors, employees, volunteers, and veterinary experts/medical personnel under direct instruction from any and all claims, damages, losses, including death, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in connection with the application of any protocols as provided by Sidewalk Specials NPC/CIC, and/or while at the premises of Sidewalk Specials NPC/CIC, or at any location in application of these protocols.

  2. I/We acknowledge that application of any of the protocols involves certain risks and hazards, including but not limited to the risk of personal injury and property damage. I/We agree to assume full responsibility for any such risks and hazards, and to release and waive any claims against Sidewalk Specials NPC/CIC and any of its directors, employees, volunteers, and veterinary experts/medical personnel under direct instruction arising out of or in connection with application of the protocols or while at the premises of Sidewalk Specials NPC/CIC, or at any location in application of the same animal protocols.

  3. I/We acknowledge that this indemnity is intended to be interpreted as broadly as allowed by law, and that it shall survive the termination or expiration of Sidewalk Specials NPC/CIC, and that the indemnity referred to herein shall inure to the successors and assigns of Sidewalk Specials NPC/CIC, and its directors, employees, volunteers, and veterinary experts/medical personnel under direct instruction.
