Sidewalk Specials’ year started just fabulously – the My Little Hero Foundation has sponsored 385 De Doorns township animals to be sterilised, dewormed and vaccinated!! 🥰
This will be the first vet care of their little lives and both spare them a life of breeding and disease, whilst also preventing thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens being born into poverty 🙌
The wonderful NexGard will be sponsoring every animals tick and flea medication, whilst the amazing Pet Heaven provides a healthy food parcel! ❤️
We are so blessed and beyond delighted for the 385 furballs whose lives just got infinitely better! 🎉

One happy Chappy waiting for sterilisation

40+ dogs and cats are treated at each clinic, those healthy enough are sterilised. Sick animals are sent home with medicine and collected for a later clinic.

Each animal is fully inoculated, dewormed, sterilised, given a sponsored NexGard tick and flea treatment and a month long antibiotic course to clear tick bite fever!

Shelly is diagnosed with advanced tick bite, if she hadn’t come in this clinic she wouldn’t have survived 💔

Spikkles owners chased after our bakkie, they don’t want her having puppies, music to our ears!

Our hero vets start a long, gruelling day of operations.

Whilst the vets are busy at the hall, the outreach team is busy signing up dogs for sterilisation and collecting emergency cases.

For most dogs a visit from the outreach team is the difference between life and death! We are eternally grateful for our NexGard sponsorship and the lives it helps us save!

Homes backing onto the mountain are infested with ticks, home remedies do not work in cases like this.

The universal sign of ‘please don’t bite me’ 😆

Never be looking down, unless you’re helping someone up. Dogs shouldn’t have to live in these conditions? Indeed, and neither should humans.

“the people don’t understand how important this sterilisation is, I keep telling my neighbours” – a change be coming 🙌

We see a kennel and no dog, knock on the door and mamma’s keeping her puppy inside to try and protect him from ticks ❤️

Sadly he’s already infested. One Nexgard, a deworming, antibiotics and some Pet Heaven sponsored food later and he’s put on the list for check up next week. He will be sterilised when old enough.

The team head to the municipal dump to check on the community living there, this community makes a living from recycling the trash people throw away. Phones are a rarity here so we check in often, keeping the communities dogs sterilised and healthy.

Checking for internal stitches, the easiest way to confirm sterilisation.

Mountain, a dump dog well known to the team, shows us his new choice of bed.

A pregnant dog is spotted, signed in and loaded. The dump is no place for puppies.

Mr Dilemma adopts the dogs who get, well, dumped at the dump. Needless to say, it’s not the township community doing the dumping. Two out of his three dogs we have already sterilised…

Number three loaded for sterilisation 🙌

Back at the hall our sterilisation patients are waking up in their cones of shame 😊 Township owners often work long hours and can’t keep an eye on whether or not their dogs are licking their stitches. Cones for everyone is the safest course of action.

Waking up free from a life of breeding and disease thanks to My Little Hero Foundation ❤️

Home sweet home to a loving a responsible family 🎉

The next generation being shown a better example of good pet care! 🙌
