Ask a member of Sidewalk Specials what the hardest part of their job is and it’s always the same answer – “Outreach…” 
‘Outreach’ consists of:
– attending emergency call outs 
– investigating reports of abuse 
– checking up on chained, underfed & sick dogs as their owners are educated on better pet care
– location pinning dogs & cats that need collecting for our upcoming Steri Clinics 
– running mass inoculation drives to limit the impact of distemper outbreaks 
Needless to say it’s frequently heartbreaking, overwhelming and comes with extensive vet bills 
However, it’s also the only lifeline for township dogs and their owners who cannot access nor afford private vet care 
Simply put- if we stop, they suffer.
