Steri Drive 11 is happening the 23-25th April, aiming to provide 300 ‘Care Packs’ to the underprivileged animals of De Doorns! 

A ‘Care Pack’ costs R450/€24/£20/$27 and consists of a vet check, sterilisation, inoculation, deworming, NexGard tick & flea treatment, an antibiotics course, and a nutritious food parcel! 

The vets are donating their time for free, Hill’s Pet Food are donating the food and Boehringer Ingelheim the tick and flea medicine, all to make sure your donations have the biggest impact!!

Unchecked breeding is the cause of so much suffering.

The amazing faces of Ouma Moto and Wollie! Ouma’s companion since a pup, Wollie joins her on daily walks to help circulate her blood flow! Ouma would be delighted if her precious Wollie could see a vet!! 
Wollie approves of Hill’s Pet Nutrition, he didn’t even notice we snuck a dewormer in there!
Life on the dump is an unforgiving one…
…but with two sterilised, fat, healthy doggo companions, it’s a whole lot happier! Jasmin, Blackie and Molly say thank you for the Care Packs you donated on Steri Drive 10!
It doesn’t look like a happy scene at first glance…But for the Outreach Team we know that two parasite free, sterilised, fully inoculated dogs live here, sheltered in their warm kennels at night!
Babies raising babies but this young man chased our bakkies to get help for his best friend! NexGard, dewormer, antibiotics and signed up for Steri Drive 11…now he just needs his Care Pack sponsored…
So many emotions… Is it ideal? No. Did they try? Yes. Education backed by sterilisation is everything!

Chains are one way to prevent your dog getting pregnant/ wandering in the township! However they’re also illegal and cruel! We happened upon a mommy hiding in one of our kennels! Are we annoyed that our kennels have been given to an unsterilised dog- yup. Are we glad mommy has shelter for her and her pups- yup. Either way mommy is now booked in for sterilisation at Steri Drive 11.
The future’s bright for both of these beautiful souls!

It’s not hard to see the effects of unchecked breeding and the misery it causes, one rain fall and these pups are dead. Happily the Outreach Team always carries a spare kennel. Booked in for Steri Drive 11.
Lamb’s sibling ‘Nchoos’ is under Sidewalk’s care, healing at home! His owner Tumi is also learning about pet care and has her four dogs signed up to Steri Drive 11!
When you know they’ve got food but you just don’t trust ’em! Without veterinary intervention Tessa here won’t make the year! Happily she’s signed up to Steri Drive 11, can you sponsor her Care Pack?
People often ask if we help the cats too? We sure do, we’re aiming for 300 sterilisations at Steri Drive 11- we estimate 100 of them will be feline! Cats get full vet check, FIV tested, inoculated, Broadline treatment, sterilisation and a bag of nutritious food to go home with! Sadly we were too late for lovely ‘Harvest’ here, cancer of the nose, at least we found him and he didn’t suffer a drawn out death.
“If wealth was the inevitable result of hard work and enterprise, every woman in Africa would be a millionaire” [George Monbiot] The people of De Doorns have our respect, we couldn’t walk a mile in their shoes.

So much fun for the kids…
But mainly for Jessie!
Cederik’s been working with us since Steri Drive 9, getting his dogs back from the brink of death from mange and tick bite fever. Did we consider confiscation? Of course! But then we’d have two more dogs in the welfare system looking for homes and one more owner getting another dog not understanding what went wrong the first time. Cederik want’s to learn and we want to teach him… Plus Bobby and Shakira are not against nibbling the odd leg.
Both are already sterilised but will be seen as inpatients at Steri Drive 11! Each Steri Drive usually treats approx 300 dogs and cats that are either too young/ old or sick to be sterilised! It’s a game changer being able to provide ongoing care to this community!
Village meeting, brief interruption to ask directions to any sick dogs they may know of…
We’re directed straight to ‘Hondtjie’ who we were told stopped eating last week. Ice cold, with blood coming from his nostrils, we suspected advanced Ehrlichia…
Loaded for the emergency vet, we could feel the ticks matted in his fur…
Sadly ‘Hondtjie’ died enroute to the vet…We are eternally grateful for Boehringer Ingelheim’s sponsorship of NexGards and Broadlines for our outreach and Steri Drives- it is literally life saving for the animals that receive it!

BequestS - Remember us in Your Will

One of the most effective ways in which you can ensure that Sidewalk Specials NPC’s work continues is by way of a bequest in your will.

 

What Can You Bequeath?

You can leave any realisable assets to Sidewalk Specials NPC, including:

  • Property and land
  • Money or stocks and shares
  • Personal possessions
 
Adding a Bequest to Your Will
 
If you wish to donate to Sidewalk Specials NPC by way of a bequest, please make specific mention of us in your will.

For example:

“I bequeath to Sidewalk Specials NPC (2017/316326/08) the sum of [insert amount or percentage of overall estate value]. “ 

If you have already drawn up your will, a bequest to Sidewalk Specials NPC can be contained in an addition to your will, known as a Codicil, which can be added at any time.

A codicil must be signed and witnessed in the same way as the will itself (although the witnesses do not need to be the same). It must be kept with the will, but not affixed to it.

For example:

“I, the undersigned, declare the following to be a codicil to my will. I bequeath to Sidewalk Specials NPC (2017/316326/08) the sum of [insert amount or percentage of overall estate value] “
